Fedora trips and events in 2009/10

Premium trip, Budapest, 16-18 October 2009
Premium members of Fedora are invited to attend Opera Europa’s autumn conference from 16 to 18 October 2009 at Hungarian State Opera in Budapest, including performances of Bartók’s Duke Bluebeard’s Castle and of Beethoven’s Fidelio.

Annual European Opera Friends event, Belgium, 4-6 December 2009
La Monnaie (Brussels) and De Vlaamse Opera (Ghent) will host a 3-day event open to all members of CAR associations. The programme will include De Vlaamse Opera’s Madama Butterfly conducted by Muhai Tang and directed by Robert Carsen and La Monnaie’s double bill of Iphigénie en Aulide and Iphigénie en Tauride conducted by Christophe Rousset and directed by Pierre Audi.
The weekend will also include a guided tour of La Monnaie and its workshops, a meeting with artists, exhibitions and the Fedora annual General Assembly of members.

Premium trip: Zürich, 31 March - Bern, 1 April 2010
Fedora premium members may take part in this special trip to Switzerland just before the Easter weekend.
On Wednesday 31 March, Opernhaus Zürich will be playing Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann, conducted by David Zinman and directed by Thomas Langhoff, with Elena Mosuc, Michelle Breedt, Vittorio Grigolo and Laurent Naouri.
On Thursday 1 April, Stadttheater Bern will be premiering Mozart’s La finta giardiniera in the staging of Anna Dirckinck-Holmfeld, winner of the European Opera-directing Prize awarded in Barcelona in April 2009, and conducted by Dorian Keilhack. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with the stage director in the afternoon.
The Opera Europa Board will be meeting in Bern on 1 April, and the Fedora Board will be meeting in the morning of 2 April.

Premium trip: Amsterdam, 24-25 April 2010
De Vrienden van de Nederlandse Opera invite premium members to a performance of Berlioz’ Les Troyens, conducted by John Nelson and directed by Pierre Audi, with Eva-Maria Westbroek. The weekend will also include a guided tour of the new Hermitage Museum, an excursion to the tulip park of Keukenhof, a dinner on the Amsterdam and a working session on the future of Fedora.

Annual Fedora event: Savonlinna, 22-25 July 2010
The Finnish Savonlinna Opera Festival will welcome Fedora members between 22 and 25 July 2010, when it launches its new International Singing Competition alongside performances of Bizet’s Carmen, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly and Tosca in the historic setting of Olavinlinna Castle.

Premium trip: Verona, 31 August-1 September 2010 (tbc)
Verona per l’Arena invites Fedora premium members to attend a gala evening on Monday 31 August on the occasion of the first ceremony of the awards "Arena d'Oro", the Oscars of the Opera . The trip will include a guided tour of Verona and its surrounding and other activities. More details to follow very soon.
