Opera alive and online ...

On the weekend of 8 to 10 May 2015, we invite each and every opera organisation to join in this massive PR exercise for opera. This year’s theme is ‘opera alive and online’.

Breaking the Ice

Since Autumn 2014 the Birmingham Opera Company has been working with partners across the 10 districts of
Birmingham to create a ground-breaking programme of events called "Breaking the Ice". Starting in January 2015, in partnership with the people of Birmingham, they have offered one off tasters, surprise performances, a national conference on social responsibility in the arts and a whole host of exciting associated events  -  not to mention their new production of Michael Tippett's The Ice Break.

Peter Grimes as part of the Reykjavík Arts Festival

Benjamin Britten's opera Peter Grimes will be premiered in Iceland on 22 May 2015, as part of the Reykjavík Arts Festival. The concert performance, to be held in Eldborg Hall, is a collaborative production of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the Icelandic Opera, Harpa, and the Reykjavík Arts Festival. Two international opera stars will sing the leading roles: Stuart Skelton as Peter Grimes and Susan Gritton as Ellen Orford.

Devoted and Disgruntled: What are we going to do about Opera?

No art-form more than Opera has the ability to provoke such passion and controversy. When the stakes are high for so many of us in big and small companies as well as individuals, this is an unique opportunity for your voice to be heard.
Air your ideas, inspirations, and frustrations. Share, listen, and contribute to a constellation of discussions created and determined by you, the operatic community.

6 and 7 June 2015 - Paul Hamlyn Hall, Royal Opera House, London
